How to Plan a Kitchen
Need help planning out your kitchen, watch this short clip featuring our own, Curtis Gelotte, and get some tips on the proper use of space.
Some tips include working with the overall flow of the kitchen. From a pot filler over the stove to a separate desk for you to pay your bills, Curtis’ ideas help you use every square inch of available space. One of our favorites is a separate refrigerator drawer and sink, just right for your own prep chef.
Feasibility Studies
Can I build my dream home on this piece of property?
Can I remodel and get what I want, or do I have to tear it down?
A feasibility study is a quick look at a particular piece of property to determine if it can accommodate the house size and features desired by the owner.
At Gelotte Hommas, we help clients evaluate potential building sites and determine which property purchase would best meet their needs. Under consideration are zoning limitations, covenants, and other limiting factors. We also uncover potential hidden costs such as soil conditions that might require additional work. Our evaluation will appraise the potential of the site for a successful project so you can make a highly-informed decision.
Lighting Expert Shares Tips
Seattle Home & Lifestyles’ blog is always filled with interesting news on design and architecture, and here’s a Q&A with April Pride Allison, an interior designer and founder of Seattle-based kaarskoke about lighting and other home trends.
She tells the magazine: “They don’t realize that (lights) are important showcase pieces, like your furniture—it took longer for me to pick the lighting in my house, than anything else. If you don’t understand scale, or how much light a room needs to be functional and beautiful, it’s overwhelming.”

You’ll want to think about the lighting in rooms such as the kitchen where you’ll need task lighting as well as fixtures that make a statement and reflect the style of the home.
